Job Title: SSA Operations Leader

Job Summary/Purpose
The purpose of this role is to drive operational excellence and performance for the portfolio of projects and products including results across the SSA Region. The role reports directly to the Regional Leader for Energy Connections, SSA.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Monitor and support main projects
  • Identify and update list of main projects
  • Lead and coordinate project reviews (starting with “budget zero” review) with other involved PLS
  • Validate outputs of these project reviews
  • Follow execution of design reviews
  • Organize operational support to projects when needed
  • Coordinates the commercial activities with the Account Managers and/or Sales team; leads Project Management, Engineering, Planning & Site Management and guarantees the application of Grid Solutions and other specific methods & tools
  • Monitor projects portfolio execution and project monitoring cycle

Monitor and support main tenders:

  • Participate to tender review for risks & opportunities assessment
  • Participate to the elaboration of project execution strategy, incl. engineering works
  • Validate or ensure validation of Operations section of BUSTAM
  • Sub-Region financials:
  • Provide inputs from project execution to build sub-region budget / forecast: Sales, GM, cash flow
  • Set operational targets in the Sub-Region and monitor KPIs
  • Prepare operations topics for MBR (project status / key events, GM variations explanations, R&O, etc

Workload management:

  • Define the resources needed and coordinate with the Region leader in order to balance the workload in the Region
  • Anticipate needs (quantitatively and qualitatively) for E&P resources according to business trends (customers, standards, etc) based on skill inventory and gap-closing strategy

Improvement actions:

  • Implement improvement actions to deliver solid projects execution performance
  • Monitor these actions and their sustainable implementation at operational level
  • Ensure sharing of Best Practices and Returns on Experience (RoE) within the Region
  • Lead quality and other functions
  • Deploy methods & tools for project management, engineering and site management
  • Engineering & Project Management community:
  • Organize in line with E&P principles, implement a PM, an engineering & a site organization as agreed with the Region Leader.
  • Set priorities to the project and tendering teams

Customer Satisfaction:

  • Deploy, monitor and report customer care/customer satisfaction improvements plans (e.g detractors / promoters plans, All ambassadors action plan….) aligned with region priorities
  • People Management:
  • Direct Reports : PMO team when it exists , Operations Directors or Project Directors, Engineering Managers


  • Implement Quality Procedures, work instructions and Processes
  • Report or resolve any non-conformance and process in a timely manner

Health and Safety:

  • Demonstrate EHS leadership and ensure Zero Deviation Plan is implemented within the team
  • Takes responsibility to reward and encourage direct reports to take proactive steps toward all matters related to EHS in the workplace.
  • Identifies and evaluate EHS risks in own area and implements practical measures.
  • Participates in hierarchical/ team safety visits and leads EHS improvement initiatives


  • Engineering Degree or M.Sc or it’s equivalent qualification
  • At least 8 to 10 years’ experience in project execution, engineering or project management role or in similar positions
